Good Morning,
Like those recipes especially the pancake soup. That should taste good. It is cold here this morning 19 degrees. We are suppose to have some light snow, but it is also suppose to get up to 40 today. An old upstate New York adage: If you don't like the weather-wait a minute-it will change.

2 very good combinations for a recipe of the week i think. Did anyone see the PBS special last night on the Amish, i thought it started out kind of typical and predicable to be honest but after around the first 20 mins or so it started to get some feet under it! So i would say for me it was "ok" but I've seen better. Maybe its because I've seen so many of these type of programs about the Amish so I'm expecting something better than the last! Richard

Watched the Amish movie last night. I thought it was good and leaves me questioning if we have lost sight of what is really important in life. It is true that we are not to store up treasures in this life and we should be looking to eternity and living as God would like us to. I think people are drawn to the Amish because we truely wish in many ways that life was simplier. I believe they were right on the money about our generation being of a mind set me me me and not on serving others which may at times mean denying our needs and putting others first. I do not know if we truely understand the complications we will face in the future for other generations. We are trying to change our mindset in our home but I know it would be difficult to live as the Amish do. I respect their way of life. Will be intersting to see how others feel. If anyone has any suggestions for other Amish things to watch I would love to know some other things. Hope everyone is having a great week!!!!!

Hey Veronica and the one thing that hit home from that special on TV is when that woman whose name slips my memory at the moment said that "the Amish have basically rejected our ways". Sometimes when I've spoken to some of the plain folks that conversation has been somewhat shaky and i felt some un-trust coming from those Amish. Now it may have only been directed at me because we didn't know each other and it was kind of a fast introduction, but i think that there are some who would just be happy to ignore us and go about their business working around us. All people are different and not all of the Amish think and act the same, but this is just an observation that I'm giving after I've started talking and going out and seeking conversation with some of them. So their independence for me at least is always felt when i make contact with any of them, and for some gaining some trust will take a bit longer for them in you than maybe normal. Richard

I totally understand what you are saying Richard. Often when we are hurt deeply in anyway trust becomes a very serious wall that takes along time to break down in people. I am so thankful you take the time to do this blog. It has been a blessing to so many I am sure. I am hopeful to get to explore the Amish communities in the US soon. May your life continue to be blessed just as you have blessed mine!! Have a great evening!!
