On this post, lets take a trip to 1954 in Intercourse Pennsylvania

These images are from the commemorative anniversary book of Intercourse,Pa.   I thought since i really liked this particular book a lot that i would see if i could post some of these images from 1954. I paid  $10.00  for a copy , but if you would like to know a little secret I'm told that in 2004 they printed too many of these books so they would love to move a whole bunch out of their warehouse. So if you enjoy history Especially if its relating to Lancaster county then you will really love receiving this book. Some of these businesses from these  1954 collection are no longer around, but quite a few still are and you folks still are visiting them today. To order please call the Leacock Township at 717-768-8585

Zimmerman's in Intercourse. Notice the gas pumps, i remember my dad pumping gas into his 1968 ford fairlane in the late 1960s. The pumps are no longer there.
This gas station is long gone.

Images from 1954

Another ad of Zimmermans general store. Started in 1909 and doing very well.

Millers started out selling chicken and waffles to folks traveling route 30 in 1929. Millers is still around and doing extremely well, its been partners with the Plain and fancy farm restaurant for a few years now now under the same ownership.

I hope that you enjoyed going back a little down memory lane, and if you have been traveling to Lancaster from the 1970s and before im sure some of these images brought back a few blast from the past thoughts. The really good part is many of these family run companys are still around and are doing quite fine. I have more images from 1954 so i may post the rest depending if you folks would like to see them a little later down the road. Richard from Amish Stories.
